Catalog Note This issue of Walt Coburn's Western Magazine (March 1951) collects seven western stories. The lead story, "The Man from Black Coulee" by Walt Coburn, follows Frank Galt, a young cowboy imprisoned for cattle rustling in 1917 Montana. Offered a choice between prison and the draft, Frank enters World War I and dies heroically destroying a German machine-gun nest. However, a severely injured soldier named Tom Jones—with a shattered memory and scarred face—is recovered by American forces and returned to Montana, his true identity unknown. The remaining stories include "Long Shot" by Roy de S. Horn, "The Fugitive of Faro Flats" by Herbert A. Woodbury, "A Deal with the Devil" by Oliver King, "Held in Trust" by Dennison Rust, "One Bullet to Go" by David Foster-Harris, and "Perilous Cargo" by Ray Nafziger. Most stories are reprints from 1934–1939 Popular Publications collections.
