The Saint Detective Magazine
This 1954 Saint Detective Magazine anthology features five complete mystery stories. Leslie Charteris's "The Revolution Racket" opens the issue: in Mexico City, the Saint meets Captain Xavier, a policeman and fan who discusses the Enriquez brothers—corrupt officials backing revolutionary José Jalisco and potentially seeking to destabilize the government. Philip Wylie contributes "It Couldn't Be Murder," concerning a magazine illustrator who solves a mystery. Brett Halliday's "Death Goes to the Post" features his detective Michael Shayne investigating a horse-racing-related homicide. Sax Rohmer's "The Man Who Killed Blackbirds" continues his Bimbashi Barûk series, depicting an elaborate revenge scheme. Ben Ames Williams offers "His Own Petard," exploring a reporter tasked with finding his own victim's murderer. E. Phillips Oppenheim concludes with "Ghosts of Havana Harbor," a Peter Ruff international intrigue adventure. The issue also includes stories by Milward Kennedy, John Creasey, Edwin Baird, and August Derleth.
