"Tela de Araña" (Web) is a Spanish-language crime serial by W. Sampas, published by Ediciones Toray in 1960. The story opens with a mysterious criminal mastermind plotting an elaborate heist network across a city, marking bank locations on a map and connecting them with lines resembling a spider's web—he positions himself at the center like the spider itself, hidden from authorities including the International Space Police. The narrative shifts to Robert (Bob) Saltt, released from prison after serving six years for second-degree homicide committed during a bank robbery. During his escape, he killed a civilian who attempted to stop him; his remorse at the scene mitigated his original ten-year sentence. Upon release with three hundred credits, Bob finds his car in the prison garage containing a pistol, gloves, and a letter from his girlfriend Clara explaining she cannot pick him up because Lewis—an obsessive admirer who has harassed her throughout Bob's imprisonment—is preventing her departure. Bob drives urgently to their apartment in the Bronx to reunite with her, finding the door ajar in darkness.
