Museum Catalog Note This March 1944 issue of *Popular Love* features "Girl in Khaki," a complete romantic novel by Peggy Gaddis in which spoiled heiress Taffy Lansing, stung by scorn from a handsome stranger with a wounded arm, renounces her luxurious life to enter military service, where she discovers love. The issue also contains several short romantic stories: "Rings on Her Fingers" by Sugar De Pass, about a woman with a scheme to control men; "Mend My Heart" by Maria Moravsky; "Sophisticated" by Sam Merwin Jr.; and "Reservation for Romance" by Mildred Houghton Comfort. A serialized numerology feature by Sylvion analyzes December-born women's romantic prospects through the case of Gloria Ferguson, who overcomes romantic hesitation to win her beau Charles at a dance. The issue includes wartime features and patriotic advertising for War Bonds.
