Jungle Stories, Winter 1952

This Summer 1943 issue of *Jungle Stories* presents four adventure narratives set in Africa. The centerpiece is "Caravan of Terror," a book-length Ki-Gor novel wherein the White Lord of the Jungle confronts a supernatural menace—the kayeena matuba, or walking dead—that kidnaps villagers from Tembu George's kraal. Ki-Gor is driven by personal anguish, having lost his mate Helene. The two novelettes are "The Seven from Zanzibar" by Armand Brigaud, featuring captive Grant Waring attempting to thwart renegade invasion of native territories, and "Amazon-Queen of Ophir" by Wilbur S. Peacock, where cowardly Derry Stone must rescue three friends from a golden priestess's voodoo rituals. Two short stories complete the issue: Brian O'Brien's "The Devil's Juju," concerning a white man wielding lethal black magic, and "Voodoo Spears" by Gaard, where deceased warriors return to aid Sanders in battle.
