El Galante Aventurero: La isla de las sirenas
Museum Catalog Entry This Spanish-language pulp serial, "La Perplejidad del Capitán Volpi" by Arnaldo Visconti, opens with a maritime adventure aboard the sailing ship *Dardo*. Captain Musso Volpi commands the vessel while the roguish Gascon Bruyant Lartiguers banter with the young troubadour Luys Gallardo about approaching the legendary Isle of Sirens near Capri. Through a telescope, both Volpi and Gallardo glimpse mysterious female figures emerging from the water on the supposedly uninhabited island of Maggia before they vanish among the rocks. Intrigued, Gallardo rows ashore alone with his lute, finding not mythological sirens but armed Italian women in blue vests and green skirts. Their leader, wielding a stiletto, initially mistakes him for an emissary of the Trozzi faction. Gallardo disarms suspicion through charm and laughter, establishing himself as a traveling Spanish troubadour rather than an antagonist.
