Work and Win, No. 31: Fred Fearnot in London
This issue of *Work and Win* (No. 31, July 7, 1899) features "Fred Fearnot in London" by Hal Standish. The serial begins with Fred, Terry, and Sam discussing their exit from circus work. After a successful but violent season touring with Robinson's circus—marked by frequent altercations with rowdy audiences—the young men decide to sell their side-show outfit back to Robinson in Chicago. They contemplate a restorative Atlantic voyage to London, inspired by Nellie Gale's suggestion. Terry wires Evelyn of their return, and the group travels to Fredonia to visit Terry's family before heading to New York. Fred and Terry discuss the theatrical life, their earnings, and the appeal of traveling audiences while visiting with Mrs. and Mr. Olcott.
