Dimensión X
Dimensión X by Carlo di Pietro This Spanish-language science fiction novel, published by Ediciones Toray in 1969, follows Professor Karl Golder's return to his hometown of Wesel after his elderly uncle Heinrich requests substantial money during a mysterious crisis. Karl discovers his once-wealthy uncle impoverished and living ascetically, having liquidated the family fortune for an undisclosed purpose. The house shows signs of obsession: the rooftop bristles with metal poles, cables, and radar-like structures. When Karl arrives for a surprise visit during summer break, Heinrich reveals a hidden basement laboratory concealed behind a motorized floor panel. The narrative establishes an atmosphere of scientific secrecy and suggests Heinrich has devoted his resources to achieving something previously considered impossible—a goal multiple renowned scientists have pursued unsuccessfully. A woman named Helga appears to support Heinrich's subsistence while he pursues his mysterious project.
