El Archivo (The Archive)
· 1976

This Spanish-language espionage serial, "Archivo Secreto" (Secret Archive), follows CIA agent Brigitte Montfort, code-named "Baby," arriving in Rome. A Czechoslovak collaborator of Russian intelligence, Mikulas Czapok, has fallen from favor and been detained by the MVD in Moscow. His wife, Marya, escaped Prague with his archive of original Russian and Czechoslovak documents, aided by a former student, Antonin Stefan. Marya threatens to deliver the archive to Washington unless her husband is released unharmed within three days. The CIA wants the documents for historical intelligence about events surrounding the 1968 Czechoslovak invasion. Brigitte questions the operation's logic—noting Marya won't surrender the archive voluntarily and violent seizure would provoke Russian agents monitoring her. She expresses philosophical skepticism about whether historical archives serve practical purposes.
