This issue of *Brigitte en Acción* (Brigitte in Action) contains a spy thriller by Lou Carrigan. The story opens with Soviet MVD agents interrogating a Chinese prisoner, Mao Lo, in a Canton basement, extracting information about Colonel Chi En Tao's escape to Hong Kong and a contact named Maxwell Burke, an American journalist. Russian agents then kill the Chinese interrogators and prisoner, overhearing someone flee the scene.
The narrative shifts to New York CIA headquarters, where agent Charles Pitzer visits the agency's most effective operative, Brigitte Montfort ("Baby"), to brief her on an urgent Hong Kong assignment. Brigitte, practicing yoga when Pitzer arrives, learns she must travel immediately to assist the CIA agent Maxwell Burke. The story involves competing espionage operations—American CIA and Soviet MVD—both pursuing Colonel Chi En Tao, with a dangerous Soviet operative codenamed "Red Shark" being deployed to handle the situation.
