Selección Terror: El enigma de la mansión Stanrhode
Museum Catalog Note *El enigma de la mansión Stanrhode* (The Enigma of Stanrhode Mansion), by Clark Carrados, published January 1982 by Editorial Bruguera, is a mystery-thriller novella. The narrative centers on Hugo Duxley, a returning British businessman who visits Zealand's, an exclusive London gambling club. After winning seventy pounds at roulette, Duxley witnesses the muscular club enforcer Sandy Olson threatening to slash a street prostitute named Clelia Brown at the behest of the club's sinister manager, Pottpick—a deformed man with a prominent scar. Duxley intervenes, defeats Olson in combat, and escorts Clelia from the premises. Separately, another gambler, David Greenlake, wins over eight thousand pounds but is then summoned to the club's office under pretense of celebration. The text suggests conspiracy and danger lurking within Zealand's operations, with the adjacent abandoned Stanrhode Mansion—separated by a six-meter divisive wall—harboring untold secrets.
