Museum Catalog Note
This pulp horror magazine issue presents "El Mal Infinito" (The Infinite Evil) by Clark Carrados, the featured novel in Selección Terror collection #360 (January 1980, Barcelona).
The story follows Neil Eakin, a writer from Atlanta who becomes lost during a violent storm and seeks shelter at the isolated Slattery House. He encounters the elegant Amanda Cordwainer and the imposing Mr. Slattery. Before arriving, Eakin witnesses disturbing phenomena: a luminescent creature in a swamp and a phosphorescent phantom ascending into the sky. After accepting hospitality, Eakin awakens to overhear sinister conversations suggesting foul play. He discovers muddy footprints and an old penknife marked "W.P." in the corridor. Morning reveals Eakin is actually a writer researching the historical feud between the Slattery and Rutledge families for a book, explaining his presence at the house. Amanda reacts with concern when he mentions his intention to visit the rival Rutledge Hall estate.
