Selección Terror: El Monasterio Perdido
*El Monasterio Perdido* by Ralph Barby is a horror thriller serialized in *Selección Terror* (Collection no. 239, September 1977). The narrative follows Tarnal, a long-haired hippie guitarist carrying a concealed cassette recorder, who becomes entangled with a nervous, heavyset businessman named Sullivan in Paris. When Sullivan dies in a mysterious car crash on a highway to Belgium, Tarnal joins a group of young drifters—Michael, Dientes, and Vanessa—who had stowed away in a tour bus. After discovering Sullivan's corpse, the quartet heads toward the Belgian border. At a highway interchange, they board a mysterious dark minibus driven by a sinister conductor of indeterminate age. The narrative suggests Tarnal possesses the cassette contains something significant, and the driver's strange demeanor hints at menace ahead, establishing a tone of mounting supernatural or criminal danger.
