Soldados del espacio
· 1981

This Spanish-language science fiction pulp contains "Soldados del Espacio" (Space Soldiers) by A. Thorkent. The narrative opens as a World War I military drama set at Gallipoli in January 1916, following British Captain Thomas Allemby as he commands exhausted troops against Turkish forces. A young lieutenant, Roscoe, arrives with evacuation orders while the garrison guards over two million rifle cartridges. During a Turkish assault, intense hand-to-hand combat ensues; Allemby confronts a brave Ottoman officer but hesitates before striking him down. As he raises his bayoneted rifle to deliver the killing blow, the scene abruptly shifts into science fiction—the air grows glacially cold and darkness falls. The narrative then cuts to Chapter II, showing a general and Princess Asiara observing something within a crater, suggesting the WWI battle sequence was either a vision or precedes the actual space-focused plot.
