Sierra Leone Blue Book
This is an official government fiscal document from Sierra Leone dated 1915–1916, printed at the Government Printing Office in Freetown. The publication is a detailed schedule of taxes, duties, fees, and revenue sources organized by category. The contents include comprehensive tables on licenses (auctioneers, billiard tables, boats, firearms, spirits, etc.), stamp duties on legal documents (affidavits, bank cheques, bills of exchange, leases, marriage licenses, wills, probates), and import duties. Various sections address Supreme Court fees, municipal licenses, and protectorate fees. The document specifies amounts in pounds, shillings, and pence alongside the ordinances authorizing each fee. Exemptions are noted throughout—for instance, government documents, the Colonial Treasurer, and certain public officers. The text reflects a functioning colonial administrative system establishing revenue collection procedures for both the Colony and Protectorate, with regulations covering shipping, harbor operations, real estate transfers, and commercial licensing.
