Content of Beadle and Adams' Dime Novel No. 99 (August 27, 1884) "Omaha Oil: The Masked Terror; or, Deadwood Dick in Danger" by Edward L. Wheeler features two chapters. Captain Bill Monte, a skilled gunman, plays dominoes against a mysterious newcomer calling himself El Gamin. After El Gamin wins ten consecutive games, Monte stakes his final $8,000 against equal stakes. During the decisive game, El Gamin accuses Monte of cheating by playing an invalid domino move, and demands they replay. Chapter II begins introducing the Harris family and references a strange message, though the text becomes fragmentary.
