Bahamas Blue Book
This is the 1937 Annual Blue Book for the Bahamas, a colonial administrative reference document. The volume contains comprehensive government records for Nassau and New Providence, including detailed sections on taxation, revenue, expenditure, public debt, civil administration, legislation, political franchise, education, vital statistics, currency and banking, import/export duties, shipping, production, criminal statistics, hospitals, charitable institutions, meteorological data, and transportation services. The bulk of the content consists of the tariff schedule of customs duties on imports, listing specific tax rates on goods ranging from alcohol and tobacco to food staples, livestock, machinery, and textiles. The second schedule details agricultural product duties with minimum rates on produce including bananas, citrus fruits, coconuts, and fresh meat. An alphabetical index and detailed fee schedule accompany the material.
