Avon Fantasy Reader No. 15

This fifteenth issue of *Avon Fantasy Reader* collects ten science fiction and weird fiction stories. The lead novelette "A Man, a Maid, and Saturn's Temptation" by Stanley G. Weinbaum depicts an impoverished couple, Tim and Diane Vick, traveling to Saturn's moon Titan in 2142 to mine valuable flame-orchids—gems whose changing colors make them prized by wealthy collectors. Stranded at an ice-bound research station during its perpetual hundred-mile-per-hour gales, they trade trinkets with seal-like native creatures for the gems. Other stories include "Gray Ghouls" by Bassett Morgan, set in Papua; "The Einstein See-Saw" by Miles J. Breuer, a physics-based adventure; and "Venus" by Maurice Baring. Additional pieces feature work by Clark Ashton Smith, C. M. Kornbluth, P. Schuyler Miller, Mary E. Counselman, and others, spanning interplanetary exploration, mad scientists, and supernatural themes.
