Authentic Science Fiction Magazine No. 23
This issue of the British science fiction magazine *Authentic Science Fiction* (No. 23) contains the advertised story "The Singing Spheres" by Jon J. Deegan, making the author's long-awaited return to the publication. The serial follows an exploration crew—narrator/botanist, physicist Hartnell, and photographer Tubby Goss—investigating the planet Kardoon within the Eta Herculis system aboard the scout ship that operates from the larger vessel Old Growler. The narrative, beginning with Chapter One ("Whistlers of the Ether"), describes the trio's exhausting ten-mile trek through barren, sun-baked terrain as they commence their investigation. The issue also includes a poem submitted by a reader from Hong Kong and features correspondence addressing the magazine's growing reputation and reader engagement with fandom clubs across Britain.
