The records document radar sightings near Yuma, Arizona and other locations. Key reports include a February 27, 1961 sighting observed for one hour and forty-eight minutes that descended gradually at approximately 300 feet per minute, initially resembling chaff dispersal. Observers included A/2C Paul E. Reuter and Captain Morris Royster, both rated reliable. The MPS-14 radar system recorded the object at 13,333 feet, displaying unusual characteristics: slow movement at 23 knots with diffuse radar echoes trailing behind. Investigating officers concluded the most plausible explanation was a chaff drop, though insufficient data prevented definitive classification in some cases, with reentry bodies and equipment malfunction noted as alternatives.
