Pulp Magazine Cover, January 1961
This document is not a pulp magazine but rather a U.S. Air Force investigative file from Project Blue Book, containing UFO sighting reports and investigation materials from Akron, Ohio in January 1961. The file includes official UFO sighting report card (ATIC Form 329) documenting a reddish-orange circular object, approximately five times the size of the moon, observed on January 21, 1961, lasting 15-20 minutes. The Air Force concluded the sighting was the setting moon distorted by atmospheric refraction. The file contains lengthy activity reports detailing interviews with witnesses, cooperation with local UFO research committees, and interactions with Akron city officials; includes newspaper clippings discussing City Council's rejection of a formal UFO investigation; and meteorological data from the National Weather Service in Asheville, North Carolina supporting the atmospheric explanation. The document presents an institutional bureaucratic response to civilian UFO reports during the early Cold War period.
