Pulp Magazine Adventure Cover, 1959
This document is not a pulp magazine but rather an official Air Force UFO investigation record from Project 10073 (ATIC—Air Technical Intelligence Center). It comprises two forms: a standard UFO Analysis Sheet and a detailed incident report dated April 5, 1955, documenting an observation from Travis Air Force Base and Coyote Hills Naval Air Station near Fresno, California. Observers spotted an object with a flame giving off white sparks at 8:45 P.M. (PST) descending at 30-45 degrees from 4,000-5,300 feet. The object instantaneously disintegrated into three pieces "like an afterburner being turned off." Two pieces reportedly burned out; the third struck the ground in the Pacheco Pass between Gilroy and Los Banos. The report notes discrepancies between witness statements and newspaper accounts regarding the incident's timing.
