This document is a U.S. Air Force Intelligence Information Report (TR-2-57) dated April 22, 1957, concerning an unidentified flying object sighting near Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Two civilian Philco technical representatives observed an object on April 15, 1957, during daylight hours. Initially mistaken for a drag parachute from a B-47 bomber, the elliptical, dull aluminum object appeared stationary before suddenly accelerating at speeds estimated at Mach 2 or 3, moving in a curved trajectory resembling a sweeping searchlight beam. The observation lasted fifteen seconds total, with the acceleration phase consuming three seconds. Weather conditions were clear with unlimited visibility. The preparing officer concluded the brief sighting lacked particular significance, though no conventional explanation was offered. The observers were deemed mature and reliable by their personnel assessments.
