Amazing Stories, July 1955

This document is not a pulp magazine but rather official U.S. Air Force Project Blue Book record cards from July 1955, documenting a UFO sighting investigation. The first form records a daylight sighting near Van Nuys, California on July 23, 1955, at approximately 8:09 PM local time. A witness—a 23-year-old piano teacher in Sherman Oaks—observed a single elliptical, silver object roughly the size of a nickel at arm's length, traveling southward faster than a jet aircraft for ten to fifteen seconds before fading out. The object was sighted at a forty-five-degree angle of elevation. The investigating officer, 1st Lieutenant Louis F. Ganskow, concluded there was insufficient data for evaluation, ruling out meteor but leaving the object's nature undetermined.
