Pulp Magazine Cover, June 1954
This document is not a pulp magazine but U.S. Air Force investigative records regarding an unidentified flying object sighting. The investigation, conducted by Special Agent John C. Shiner of the 2d District Office of Special Investigations, documents a report made on June 14, 1954, at 0130 hours near Staten Island, New York. The witness, a 29-year-old telephone switchman claiming 20/20 vision, described observing a single white sphere with reddish tones at its circumference for approximately 2–3 seconds. The object moved horizontally in a shallow arc at an elevation of 30–35 degrees, then disappeared suddenly. The western sky subsequently displayed a glow resembling heat lightning. The case remains open with notation that a potential secondary witness may have observed the same phenomenon.
