Adventure Magazine, March 1950
This document is a U.S. Air Force UFO incident report dated March 24, 1950, filed by Air Material Command. It details an unidentified aerial phenomena sighting observed on March 17, 1950, near Adams Field, Little Rock, Arkansas. A 50-year-old flight operator piloting an aircraft reported observing 6-18 round or octagonal black objects at approximately 50 degrees elevation, roughly 10-15 miles distant, visible for about 8 minutes. The objects initially appeared as a large plane, then executed a sudden 90-degree turn from southeast to southwest. Viewed through the aircraft's plexiglass windshield, they disappeared when the pilot descended to land. A student pilot in the same aircraft, Thomas Tanner, did not corroborate the sighting. The report includes investigation procedures, weather conditions, radar inquiries, and local flight schedules of military and civilian aircraft from the time period, ruling out conventional explanations.
