This document is not a pulp magazine but a U.S. Air Force incident report dated 16 August 1949, concerning an unidentified flying object sighted over Greenville, South Carolina. On 15 August at 1930 hours, two witnesses—one employed at Greenville Municipal Airport, one unidentified—reported observing a round, grey object moving northeast at undetermined speed, estimated at 5,000 feet or below. The object produced no sound or exhaust trail and maintained constant speed and altitude. Reports were transmitted through Atlanta Air Route Traffic Control Center to Maxwell Flight Service Center. The Air Force's 316th Troop Carrier Wing investigation concluded the object was a Geological Weather Service balloon released in Tennessee. The document includes weather conditions at time of sighting and transmission logs.
