Frank Merriwell in Mexico: The Search for the Silver Palace
This weekly serial by the author of "Frank Merriwell" follows the young protagonist, alongside Professor Scotch and Hans Dunnerwust, a Dutch comic character. In a remote Mexican adobe hut, the dying Jack Burk reveals the existence of the legendary Silver Palace—a treasure-filled structure hidden in the Sierra Madre, accessible only by balloon across an impassable gulf shrouded in mists. Burk's partner, Alwin Bushnell, first pursued the treasure with him but departed seeking another balloon. Burk provides a map and a solid-gold Aztec idol as proof before his condition worsens. When bandits attack outside the hut pursuing Bushnell, Frank and the professor defend the location with rifle fire, enabling Bushnell to escape to the town of Mendoza. Burk subsequently dies.
