A patriotic hero for a country heading into war, the Fighting Yank was another of Nedor's costumed stars, appearing in the early 1940s. His signature look — a tricorn hat and a flowing cloak evoking the American Revolution — set him apart from the era's parade of caped strongmen. In his origin the modern hero draws power and guidance from a Revolutionary-era ancestor, and his cloak grants him protection as he battles saboteurs and enemy agents. Like many heroes launched in the shadow of Pearl Harbor, he channeled wartime anxieties into red-white-and-blue adventure. And like the rest of the Nedor stable, the Fighting Yank was never copyright-renewed and now resides firmly in the public domain. That status has made him a recurring guest in modern revivals of Golden Age characters, where writers have reassembled the old Nedor roster into new teams and continuities.
