This etching satirizes the failed fireworks display at Amsterdam's 1820 celebration of the Sacrament of Miracle's 450th anniversary. The composition crowds a chaotic assembly around a central pole and pyrotechnic apparatus, with Latin inscriptions labeling the chaos—"la grande famille des iobarks," "goddem il pyend," "spread it womanning." Figures tumble and scatter as the spectacle misfires, their dress and posture exaggerated for comic effect.
