This Dutch wood engraving compiles a dozen vignettes of university student mischief and social folly, arranged in the German *Bilderbogen* tradition of sequential narrative panels. Figures tumble down stairs, disrupt lectures, stage theatrical farces, and create domestic chaos—all rendered in the sharp linear style characteristic of mid-19th-century popular prints. The scenes lampoon student excess, romantic entanglement, and the collision between academic pretense and rowdy behavior. Such almanac illustrations descended from the satiric tradition of Hogarth and Rowlandson, using accumulation and exaggeration rather than single-point caricature. The format—multiple related scenes on one sheet—directly anticipated the comic strip's emergence decades later.
