Microlicia cordata (Spreng.) Cham.

· Collected 1815, annotated to 2014

Microlicia cordata (Spreng.) Cham.
This is a botanical herbarium specimen, not a political cartoon or caricature. The mounted sheet shows dried branches of *Microlicia cordata*, a Brazilian shrub in the family Melastomataceae, collected in Brazil by Sello in 1815 and held at the Natural History Museum, London. Handwritten and typed labels identify it as a lectotype — a nomenclatural anchor specimen. No satirical tradition applies here. Displaying this object in a caricature exhibition would misrepresent both the artifact and the history of print satire. A wall label cannot responsibly be written for a context the image does not support.
