Dioscorea convolvulacea Cham. & Schltdl.

This herbarium specimen — a pressed and mounted climbing yam from the mountains above Iguala, Guerrero, at roughly 4,000 feet — is not a cartoon or caricature. It is a botanical voucher collected under C. G. Pringle's *Plantae Mexicanae* series and later annotated by O. Téllez in 1993. The heart-shaped leaf, wiry twining stems, and bead-like fruiting racemes are characteristic of the Dioscoreaceae. No satirical tradition applies here. The image cannot honestly be framed as comic-book prehistory without fabricating a narrative it does not support.
