From the exhibition

Hypericum philonotis Cham. & Schltdl.

· Collected 1896; determined 1986

Hypericum philonotis Cham. & Schltdl.
This is a pressed herbarium specimen, not a cartoon or caricature. It shows a dried plant — roots, stems, leaves, and small flowers intact — mounted on archival paper alongside a color-calibration chart, a centimeter scale, and multiple identification labels. The specimen was collected by C. G. Pringle in damp sandy meadows of the Sierra de Álvaro, Mexico, at 6,000 feet, and carries an isotype designation. It belongs to the Natural History Museum, London, Department of Botany. No satirical content, printmaking tradition, or caricature is present. A museum wall label for a caricature exhibition cannot honestly be written from this image.
