Spigelia flemmingiana Cham. & Schltdl.

· Collected 1837, identified as Typus specimen

Spigelia flemmingiana Cham. & Schltdl.
This is a herbarium type specimen — a pressed and dried botanical plant mounted on archival paper. It shows a slender flowering herb with opposite leaves and fibrous roots, collected in British Guiana (now Guyana) along the Essequibo River by Robert Schomburgk. The label identifies it as the *Typus* (nomenclatural type) of *Spigelia flemmingiana*, held at the Natural History Museum, London. The specimen is a primary scientific document of Victorian-era botanical exploration.
