The South Dome, Yosemite

Thomas Moran's watercolor depicts Yosemite's iconic South Dome (Half Dome) rising above a forested valley bisected by a winding stream. Moran, a British-born landscape painter central to the Hudson River School tradition, translated the American wilderness onto paper with topographic precision.
