Cliff Sterrett's *Polly and Her Pals* launched in 1912 and ran for decades, making it one of the longest-lived strips of the newspaper era. This daily follows Pa Perkins through a four-panel slapstick chain: he has lost his collar button, Jess instructs him to remove his shoes, then promenades him across the floor barefoot — and Pa's toe finds the button the hard way. Sterrett drew with loose, confident linework and packed genuine comic timing into small panels.
