Oh! Margy!
· October 25, 1925

A two-panel Sunday comic by John Held, Jr., following the romantic misadventures of Margy. The left panel shows Margy in fashionable 1920s dress observing her boyfriend's unexpected talent as a football tackler; the right depicts him enthusiastically tackling her during a Charleston dance. Held's loose, economical line work and dynamic diagonal compositions capture the kinetic energy of Jazz Age life. The recurring character Margy appeared across multiple strips in this era, allowing readers to follow her exploits week to week—a format that became foundational to newspaper comic serialization and the eventual development of comic books.
